Okay, I have detailed the trip from many points of view - now SHOPPING!
Two sisters knocked it out of the park in Nebraska. I can't even begin to do this sequentially, so I am just going to hit some high points.
In one small town, we went into an unused barn where four families were having a garage sale. One of the daughters had recently been married and they were selling items from her wedding. We were excited! Her wedding was very similar to an upcoming wedding we were having. We bought brown table scarves, burlap, dried flowers and chalkboard signs for a song! These items were used in Taryn's fall wedding.
Perhaps my favorite find was an old advertising rail sign from a grocery store. Ads were clipped onto the rails to advertise the specials and it sat at the entrance to a store. We found it at a barn sale at a regional rodeo ground. Hundreds of vendors were setup inside and out and we spent hours there. We have since used this sign in multiple weddings and craft shows.
Perhaps our favorite find was vintage suitcases. A branding logo was born when Sheri came up with the magnificent idea of storing wedding materials and transporting them to venues in suitcases. The best of all - you can store them in plain sight at the venues. We bought several in Nebraska and transported them home. (Full, of course)
You will see them at all our weddings in various vignettes.
We bought metal tins and buckets. We found multiple vintage linens and tablecloths. We found old door knobs, vintage keys, old c-clamps and old games. While we aren't sure how we will use it all, some how it will find its way into a celebration somewhere.
