It has been a busy week for Two Sisters. We have done most of the official paperwork that allows us to really exist as a legitimate business. How awesome and scary at the same time. I published our first web page today.
Now I've done tons of web pages in my former technology life, but this time it is MINE. I have to admit; I hovered over that publish button and hesitated a bit. Had I followed all those things I always told teachers?
Spell check? yep.
Legal use of photos? yep.
Permission of the people appearing in the pictures? yep.
Colors coordinated and links active? yep.
Scared of having a mistake? YEP!
Oh, my gosh, JUST CLICK THE BUTTON! And it was done! (huge sigh...) Very anticlimatic.
But it did cause me to focus my thoughts on mistakes. I often feel that mistakes are uncorrectable, unacceptable and unforgivable. In reality, they are just what they are - mistakes. One of the things that sets us apart as a business is the "we can handle that" attitude that both Sheri and I have. If a customer has a change, a mistake or a last minute addition, we can handle that. I am VERY forgiving and understanding of mistakes or omissions by others. Why, oh why am I so hard on myself? Type A, anyone?
I remember watching those students in my classroom that were so hard on themselves when they made a mistake. As a teacher, I often took special effort to reassure those babies that we all make mistakes. So now, I remind my retired self - we all make mistakes and most people are forgiving. With that said, I am glad I pushed that publish button. Two Sisters Rust and Dust officially exists (mistakes and all) and I am excited about where we are going from here!
Oh, yea. Anyone got a Rustic or Vintage event you need coordinated? We are available!
